Balkan Services held a BI course for Masters at Sofia University

At the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Kamen Spasov, during the summer semester of the academic year 2018/2019, specialists from Balkan Services held a Business Intelligence course at the “Electronic business” Master Programme at the Sofia University. Within 60 academic hours, four BI specialists from the company delivered knowledge and skills to the students by covering the themes:

• What is Business Intelligence, benefits to Business;
• KPIs - nature and species;
• Different types of BI systems and key features;
• Good practices and opportunities for visualizations, dashboards.
  
  

In the practical part of the course, Balkan Services specialists demonstrated what the steps to creating a complete Qlik Sense application are. For this purpose, the lecturers used sample data and developed the application for a specific business case. The experts demonstrated all necessary steps to create a BI application - from the ETL process, from the building of scripts and DWH models to the final visualization of the application. As a final task at the end of the course, students need to build their first BI application which they have to present to the lecturers.

The subject “Business Intelligence”, which is conducted in English, is visited by both Bulgarian and foreign students from South Korea, Germany, Spain and Albania.

Most Masters are employees in major international companies and some are also active entrepreneurs with their own businesses. Students share that the subject “Business Intelligence” is one of the most interactive one that they have visited and they clearly see the real benefits of BI for business.

Balkan Services experts held one of the last lectures at the office of the company to enable students to become part of the real business environment. Special time and attention were given to questions and answers to help the students develop their projects.
